about 32 bit application and odbc to access 64 bit SQL Server 2005

Hello
Our application currently is running on IIS machine with Windows 2003 32 bit
OS installed and database server machine with Windows 2000 32 bit OS and SQL
server 2000 installed.
We are thinking to upgrade the database server to Windows 2003 64 bit OS and
SQL server 2005 64 bit.
The IIS machine is still on 32 bit OS and application, We are wondering if
there is any problem for 32 bit application and ODBC to access the 64 bit
database?

No, there is no problem. I least I have seen dozens of similar applications
accesing 64-bit databases.
Most of the connectivity issues I have seen is connecting SQL Server 64-bit
to Oracle but there is always a solution.

We are looking at installing Reporting Services at our company here. We wish
to install the Report Server component on an IIS 6 web server that is on our
DMZ network, and hence not in our domain (where the SQL Server resides that
we want to put the RS database.) While reading BOL's "Selecting Components
of Reporting Services to Install" chapter, it notes: "IMPORTANT: Report
server and the SQL Server instance hosting the report server database must
be in the same domain or trusted domain." In our case, they would not be. Is
this a deal-killer, or has someone successfully implemented this type of
architecture out there? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

internal network, then access it via web services on your Internet-facing
server.
Look at the Report Server Control example, just modify the URL parameter.

I Have an application for Pocket PC 2003 developed in Visual Studio 2003(VB.Net , Smart Device App). I Use Sql Server CE as the database which Synchronizes with Sql Server 2000, SP4. The IIS and the Sql Server 2000 are in different Machines. I Have Installed the proper Sqlserver Ce in the IIS machine and created virtual directory with Basic authentication.I connect my device through Active Sync 3.7. I could browse the sscesa20.dll from Pocket IE and get the ' SQL Server CE Server Agent ' message. The PC to which my pocket PC is connected is under a Proxy.

When I tried the RDA.Pull() , the function fails and returns the error
" Error Code: 80072EE7
A request to send data to the computer running IIS has failed. For more information see HRESULT. [,,,,,]
Minor Error : 28037
Source: Sql Server 2000 Windows CE Edition. "

The same application works in other network which is not under a proxy.

Any clues ?

This is a solution which I found online and it works for me.

1.

Click Start, click Run, type firewall.cpl, and then click OK.

2.

In the Windows Firewall dialog box, click the Advanced tab.

3.

In the Network Connection Settings box, click the connection that your computer uses, and then click Settings.

4.

In the Advanced Settings dialog box, click Web Server (HTTP), and then click Secure Web Server (HTTPS).

Note For additional information about when you must allow users to access the Secure Web Server (HTTPS) on your computer, see the "More Information" section.

5.

Click OK.

6.

In the Windows Firewall dialog box, click OK.

I have SSL on Proxy Server which redirect the request to web server. Communication between Client and Proxy use SSL but the communication between PROXY and Web Server is normal (without SSL). I installed Sql Server Mobile Tool on Web Server and configured virtual directory without SSL and Basic Authentication. When client hit this URL from out side of the world, it must go through SSL on Proxy. When I directly go to URL (https://website/test/sqlcesa30.dll) on web browser, it's working fine. But when i use it in my .Net code i am getting error as above.

Same code is working without SSL on proxy.

Can you please tell me what could be the problem?

A questions about OS!

Can I use IIS on my WindowsXP Home Edition?
If it can ,then Where should I download the IIS5.0(if have the setup package in the world) and can I setup it on my XP Home Edition?

By the way ,I have try to install the XP Professional but I can't find the proper Drivers so I had to use the DEfault CDROM to install the XP Home Editon on my notebook.So now I want to use the HomeEditon,the question is ...Can I use IIS5.0?I debug my ASP web with DW.IF It can go.where should I download the IIS?Please show me the LINK..Thanks.

A newbie need help for SQL XML

I am trying to set up my SQL server so that I can get recordset in XML format
over HTTP.
In a seperate IIS server (with SQL tools):
1) I created a directory (C:\nwind) and underneath created C:\nwind\template
and C:\nwind\schema.
2) Opened the IIS virtual dir. for SQL (IISsql) and created a virtual
directory nwind and pointed to C:\nwind.
3) Set the security to either sql or windows.
4)Selected the SQL server and appropriate database.
5)Checked allow POST and allow URL query.
6) Created virtual names
template->type-template->location-C:\nwind\template, dbobject->type-dbobject,
schema->type-schema->location-C:\nwind\schema.
I have both a windows account and sql account "test" that has access to
northwind database. When I type the following in a workstation:
http://IISserver/nwind?sql=SELECT * FROM Employees FOR XML AUTO&root=root
I get the:
HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found.
Internet Information Services (IIS)
But when I ran the IIS in XP machine I didn't have any problem. Any help is
greatly appreciated. Thanks
